Interneting 101

What do you want to know about the internet?

On the timeline of history, it's very young. That hasn't stopped it, however, from growing from just a handful of sites to over a billion today. I can't list an exact number because in the time it took to write this sentence a hundred more were added.

Here's the current total, though, if you're interested.

And thank all that's pretty, most sites are getting much better looking!

Can you believe there was actually a time when we went to the library to look stuff up in encyclopedias? (That's books with a lot of information in them) Dictionaries and other reference materials were a common thing and sold everywhere.

When we wanted to offer a compliment to someone we had to either use a phone, a letter, or drag ourselves over to their house to let them know. It was a tough life, let me tell ya.

The internet changed all the rules. Information is instant, fickle, and at times, overwhelming.

Etiquette has also had her own make-over. Some good and some not so good.

But being human, we can become complacent and fascinated with bright, shiny, and easy. With everything at our fingertips, we don't seem to assign the value to stuff that we once did.

In some ways, that's just sad.

But in all things Internet, the good, the bad, and the ugly, let's go explore and see how things are changing and how they may change in the future.

Ready? Great, so am I.
